Cemeti Art House

Cemeti Art House, located at Jalan D.I. Panjaitan 41 Yogyakarta, established in 1988 with the name Gallery Cemeti, founder of a husband-wife, Nindityo Adipurnomo and Mella Jaarsma, artist graduated from the Indonesian Arts Institute (ISI). In early 1999, changed its name to the Cemeti Art House. Cemeti Art House is an exhibit space, information center, the documentation and promotion of the arts. 1995, stood Indonesian Visual Art Archive (IVAA) who managed all aspects of archival and research Fine Arts.

Since 1988, every year Cemeti Art Houses held an exhibition of the work of contemporary artists from Indonesia and abroad. Activities include solo exhibitions, group exhibitions, performance art, site specific, art happenings, discussions, slide presentations, and artist talks.

In 2010, the Cemeti Art House launched a new platform where all activities focus on the reinvention of 'Art and Society', emphasizing alternative art practices, the more respect the 'process' rather than 'promotion'. In the new program, the Cemeti Art House offers a variety of residency programs (work and study) for artists, curators, and multidisciplinary research. Cemeti Art House launches latest residency program titled 'Hot Wave' which involves three artists from three different countries, who work and conduct research at the Cemeti Art House for three months. At each end of the residency period, held an exhibition and presentation of the work of artists during the residency. Cemeti Art House open two residencies each year for the curators, writers, or researchers art. They were given the opportunity to expand the discourse about Fine Arts in Yogyakarta.

The names of the artists who submitted his work to the Cemeti Art House including, Anusapati, Agung Kurniawan, Tri Wahyudi, Yamyuli Iman, Hanura Hosea, Hedi Hariyanto, Yenny Yanuar Ernawati, Yani Halim, Tisna Sanjaya, Asmudjo Jono Irianto, Moelyono, Agus Suwage, Eddie Harra, Ruud Venekamp, AS Kurnia, Munadi, Hafiz, Mella Jaarsma, FX Harsono, Paul Kleman, Moritz Ebinger, Shigeyo Kobayashi, and others.
