Sonobudoyo museum located in the city center, and is located in a strategic location, being in the area of Yogyakarta Cultural Center. Joglo shaped museum building, in the form of architecture as existing mosque in Cirebon Kasepuhan Palace. Sonobudoyo Museum consists of two units. Sonobudoyo Museum Unit I is located on Trikora street No. 6 Yogyakarta, while Unit II was in nDalem Condrokiranan, Wijilan, to the east of the North Square of Yogyakarta Palace.

In nDalem Cokrokiranan, every night, at work, from the hours of 16:00 to 22:00 pm, held shadow play for tourists. This shows a summary of the leather puppet show, usually held all-night, with geber, gamelan, Sinden, and other equipment. As well as the refractive puppet show held in the community.

Number of museum collections roughly 43,000 pieces, and each year continues to increase. Sonobudoyo Museum collection is divided into several rooms.

Pendopo (Hall)

Pendopo, pyramid-shaped building with a roof "tumpang sari", intercropping, two-storied. Pendopo on the building of Java, serves to receive guests. Introduction Room

Above the entrance there is a relief candrasengkala "Blind Ngrasa Esthining Lata". Prehistoric Room

Batik Room

Wayang Room

This room holds a collection of some types of "wayang", puppet, one of them "wayang klitik" made of wood.

Mask Room

This Room holds a collection of masks. As one of Indonesia's traditional art forms, masks are experiencing developmental history, along with the values of the culture and values of art. Mask that appears in its traditional form has a function as a means of ceremonies and performances.

Central Java Room
