Yogyakarta Batik Museum established on May 12, 1977. Access to the museum is very easy because it is located in the city center, exactly in Jl. Dr.. Sutomo No. 13 A Yogyakarta. Batik collection at the museum is very diverse. Came from various regions in Indonesia, Yogyakarta batik, Indramayu, and areas other batik craftsmen in Indonesia. This museum holds more than 1,200 batik collection, consisting of 500 pieces of batik cloth-written, 560 printed batik, 124 canting (batik tool), 35 pans, malam, and dye batik. The museum also keeps the hand embroidery is famous world figures.
The oldest existing collection of batik museum created in 1840. The oldest collections others such as Kain Panjang Soga Jawa (1950-1960), Kain Panjang Soga Ergan Lama (year not recorded), Sarung Isen-isen Antik (kelengan) (1880-1890) by EV. Zeuylen from Pekalongan, Sarung Panjang Soga Jawa (1920-1930) by Mrs Lie Djing Kiem from Yogyakarta.
Routine activities Batik Museum is a permanent exhibition which is open daily Monday to Saturday, 09:00 to 15:00 hours pm. At a certain moment, visitors can see first hand the process of making batik in this Museum. If you want to learn batik, the museum provides a packet of batik course, there is a 1-hour course packets, or packets over the course of 1 week. You do not have to worry about the accommodation, around the museum there are hotels, restaurants, health clinics, and other supporting facilities.
